How Acupuncturists See Allergies

Allergy Treatment with Acupuncture

ALLERGIES and ACUPUNCTURE

Allergies such as dog allergies, cat allergies, dust allergies, and seasonal pollen allergies, are treated very differently with acupuncture than food allergies such as gluten allergies, peanut allergies and wheat allergies.

Acupuncture for all allergies can be effective, and relief of allergy symptoms can be expected. However permanent cures for allergies using acupuncture are less assured.

What does an acupuncturist look for in an allergy

The acupuncturist looks for constitutional differences in each person who presents with allergies. The acupuncturist must treat the whole person. Often people with chronic allergies show signs unrelated to the lungs..

An acupuncturist develops a plan which addresses the person's total symptoms and provides relief, while addressing the underlying roots of the allergy. Treatments can include dietary modification, and often the use of herbal formulas.

Some causes for airborn or seasonal allergies to an acupuncturist include:

Allergies from Lung Deficiency
Allergies from Liver Invading the Lungs
Excess Lung or Spleen Damp

ACUPUNCTURE FOR FOOD ALLERGIES

Acupuncturists often regard food allergies in a very different way than seasonal pollen allergies, dust allergies, mold allergies, and other airborn allergies. Food allergies can reflect many different internal imbalances as well as poor dietary habits. Food allergies indicate an intolerance, when normal digestion should be tolerant of many different foods. Most people were not born allergic to wheat, or allergic to gluten (celiac disease). These intolerances developed because of imbalances or digestive disharmonies. Many acupuncturists, for example, do not regard food allergies as allergies at all, but rather see them as symptoms of digestive intolerance.

Some causes for food allergies to an acupuncturist include:

Allergies from Spleen Deficiency
Allergies due to disharmony between Lungs and Spleen
Liver invades Spleen
Irregular or improper eating habits
